Whilst we live in a global economy, there is no truly global language. Two-thirds of the world's population do not speak English, so learning a language can give you access to more places, people and partnerships and enable you to do more with your degree.
Through your language studies, you will develop relevant, practical, up-to-date spoken and written language skills and cross-cultural understanding to prepare you for the global workforce. Language skills are an asset in many careers, including but not limited to: international relations, diplomacy, international business, tourism, interpreting and translation, teaching, international law and commerce.
You can choose from courses and majors in Chinese, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Russian and Spanish, wherever you study.
Language studies are delivered through the Brisbane Universities Languages Hub – an Australian-first alliance between Griffith University, Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and The University of Queensland (UQ) to grow interest and expand higher learning in a range of Asian and European languages. This initiative is supported by the Australian Government.
